Standard psychiatric care typically addresses mood symptoms through the lens of neurotransmitter activity: increasing serotonin, adjusting dopamine, stabilizing mood through medication. For many patients, this works well.

For others, it doesn’t…or it works partially, leaving a residue of symptoms that never fully resolve.

In many of these cases, the missing piece isn’t a better antidepressant. It’s an understanding of the physiological conditions in which the brain is operating. A brain under chronic inflammatory stress responds differently to treatment than one that isn’t. A brain dealing with metabolic disruption doesn’t regulate mood the same way.
